Thats unfortunate it looks big and strong enough.I threatend my pink one with the chop after five years, gave it one more year to perform and it's flowered ever since. A big stick is what you need .lol

Hi BJS, Im on year five now, or thereabouts, I threatened it last year, so its on its final warning, lol. When do you think the best time is to cut it down.

Dawn i was not seriously suggesting you do cut it down,From your picture it appears you prune it.
I wonder if for one year you let it have its head and not cut it,see if that has any effect .Reason for saying that is the blue one I have is to large for the most part to reach to prune and that flowers in profusion.
My thinking is that the leaves are the life blood of a plant and if they are cut off and are not replaced until the following year what has the plant been deprived of.
Just a thought ,nothing I have read and i know the idea of pruning the leaders is to retain energy but i am not sure about that theory.

I don't know what the answer is Dawn , We had ours for approx 5 years before it flowered and like you had almost given up on it Tony decided to prune it hard to about 6 inches of each stem it has flowered profusly ever since , I hope yours like ours is just a late starter ..

If I find one in flower this Spring, I will buy one.
Amy: I'm going to follow your advice and do what Tony did, worked for you :-) Can you remember what time of year Tony did the pruning?

BB said to make sure in flower like Sanbaz said and make sure its grafted don't buy one that has nt been grafted, mine is on its 14 year not a flower in sight all that time, I have left it cut it you name it I ve starved it like some suggest, and fed it nothing wait this year now, BB also said cut back all except whats on the main stem.
