Our 'girly' garden (as my hubby calls it) with just the basics done, planting to commence in the next few weeks. The stepping stones have not been set in the ground yet as we were too exhausted after paving, digging and painting three weekends in a row. :-)
I forgot to mention, please feel free to recommend any plants (preferably not too difficult to look after) that will enhance my shabby chic garden. I was thinking of having a cream, yellow, pink/red scheme for the beds and pots by the shed. It is sunny on the left side and shady on the right. On the patio, I'll probably go for a cream and yellow scheme. Thank you, everyone.

Thank you both! I would also like to mention that I am completely open to ideas and suggestions on plants or design from anyone who would care to share their experiences so please feel free to post your comments.

Thank you all. We are putting in pots and planters slowly as well. It'll get there. As we work full time and are not very experienced, we'll never have some of the super lush gardens that other GOY members have...but it'll be enough for us to have nice BBQs in.

Hi sgbabe,as long youre happy with it thats what counts, i have been 'into' plants for about 10 years now and because we had an extension and new patio 3 years ago me and hubby were determined to try and do something different to give it a bit of character, so we reshaped the lawn last year (fitting in with all the decorating of the extension) and i feel like i am starting from scratch again waiting for it to mature and lots of planting gaps but still, all part of the fun! There are lots of fast growing pretty shrubs that soon fill out and perennials of course.

Daylily: We are thinking of putting in a conservatory next year where the patio is now, which will push the patio further into the lawn. That is why I'm only planting at the far end of the garden at the mo. I look forward to seeing your garden too. Very exciting.

sgbabe, yes our extension took 2 meters off our garden as we went straight across the back of the house, but it has made the garden more of a square shape now and is a nice size to maintain and design, it does take time and sometimes you can get frustrated trying to decide where to put plants etc (i do) :^)
