I have some in the ground as well, I mixed in quite a lot of compost and grit when I planted them, they have come through the winter ok (-15 here) just starting to flower now.

That's good. I've wanted these since I saw some at the botanic gardens in Oxford, but was a little wary as to their hardiness.

I bought some of these in a pot the other day. I wanted to be able to plant them out and it did say on the label that they are hardy so nice to hear yours have survived in the ground at -15deg. Did you have this pot indoors during the worst of the weather?

No Sg I it was outside with some others but it was close to the house wall to give it a little shelter :o)

I have found that pots close to the house fare better. There are a lot of bulbs in there or is this display due to the fact that a bulb can send up several flowering shoots? Have you had them in this pot for more than a year? Do you feed them after they stop flowering? Hope you don't mind me asking.

There were probably 5 bulbs in the pot I think, been in 2 years, I feed them with a high potash feed, I use a slow release feed for my outside pots so I don't have to worry about liquid feed every time I water. :o)

Thanks for all your help. Thats a good tip about the slow release feed. I spent a very intereting and fruitful afternoon at Edrom Nursery in East Lothian today so I have a few more new plants to pop in.

I really like these, but get the feeling that they're a little tender.
