Chamaedorea costaricana - Costa Rican Bamboo Palm (Chamaedorea costaricana - Costa Rican Bamboo Palm)

My Costa Rican Bamboo Palm is blooming right now. It's been in the front yard for about 4 or 5 years. Photo taken April 21, 2011.

Love the Grandfather's Whiskers draped over them! That looks great.

Yes, Costa Rican Bamboo Palm grows very quickly. It's one of the fastest Chamaedorea species.

Question for you. Would it be okay to put my one outside in a shady area now were having a bit of a heatwave and its been about 20-23 degrees here and about 10 at night ?
it should be about 15-18 at this time of year so would it be okay and if the temp drops would it survive ?

Palmate:

Yes, it should perfectly fine as long as it's in a shaded area.

A nice looking Palm. We use a lot of the Tillandsia here in the tropical nursery at Kew. It looks good draped over the roots of Vanda orchids.

Rbtkew:

It would look nicer if it was planted in more shade. The Jacaranda tree has just lost all it leaves because it's going to bloom soon. This palm is getting too much sun now.

I've seen orchids growing in old Spanish Moss, it makes a good planting medium.
