Plumeria Inflorescence

Plumeria Inflorescence (Plumeria rubra)

The picture below was taken yesterday April 28, 2011. This plumeria plant has been growing entirely under grow lights which are on for 16 hours.

I always like to refer to a plumeria inflorescence as a "small tree on a tree".

Its fantastic do you use an ordanary lamp or special bulb lighting.

Hi Sixpense,

An ordinary bulb wouldn't do it. You need plant lights for the inflorescence to develop indoors.

Thank you Bob that is very kind of you to let me know, I do know they needed a lot of light was nt sure which kind of bulb but now I know, bit like Passifloras they need quite a few hours of light too, you do great with yours I think its great what you achieve.

Great flower spike! My Plumeria rubra varieties are just starting to bloom now, also. However, my Plumeria obtusa 'Singapore' has been blooming every month since last November. The new flower spikes are almost ready to bloom...which is pretty early for the Singapore plumeria, even for us in San Diego.
