Check out Mikec's pics...he has an iris called "rare treat" that looks similar...both are absolutely gorgeous..I can see why you call it a new treasure...

I did see and admire Mikec's pic and it gave me a starting point for the name search. This is a different variety - it's only about 12 inches tall (and still in the pot).. I imagine it may get up to 24 inches once it's in the ground and happy.

We were back at the place I bought the iris and got the name. He's got a great collection of irises and gladly sells any type. Walks right over and digs it up for you... can't wait to get more!

It's in Roseville, I believe, which is a few minutes south west of KW.. we started the day off at the St. Jacob's farmers market with some friends, had our sausage and apple fritters, then we took our friends to that place to see what else was available. He has at least two dozen types of iris's, and I need at least a dozen of them :)
It's a guy who has a nice size property, and as a hobby he sells excess plants, for extremely reasonable $3-$5 per item. Good stuff!

I'm soooo envious..!! Would he do mail order, do you think???

I suppose it's possible.. it's probably much cheaper to sell tubers without a pot and soil.. we asked if he has a business card and he doesn't.. he had offered us a phone number but at the time we said we'd just stop in periodically.
I can get a list of what he has next time we're there (probably in the next week or two, if I get my way) and send it to you. Also, I can ask if he gives out his email address and mention someone may be interested in a mail order. Are you looking for something in particular?
