Yes, it has huge leaves. The leaves have been wilting in the very hot, dry weather we've been having here. This is the reason why I took this photo at night. :>)

They are whitefly magnets. As they age,the leaves get smaller. Havent seen them for years.

I had very beautiful large old ones in the SF Bay Area. They grow fast, had huge leaves and were so, so beautiful in the rich, clay soil up there. Here they tend to die within months of putting them into the ground. Not sure of the reason. Maybe the nights are too warm? Even in Fremont they loved when fall and winter came.

Looks healthy in the photo big shiney leaves too did you plant them in clay soil like when you lived in SF perhaps spraying the leaves with water frequently would help as plants take in most of the moisture in from their leaves.

They usually are good cooked I heard.like a Roma tomato in a way. In New Zealand and in Japan they are steady sellers in the produce markets I read.

Usually this tree is so very easy to grow. I used to grow them so well and they used to produce so much fruit I didn't know what to do with them. I don't eat any tomatoes. lol!

My goldenberry did the same thing a few weeks ago. It just wilted and now it's dying. I'm so upset. I was really looking forward to trying the goldenberry fruit (Physalis peruviana).

I heard they're used a lot cooked or eaten with sugar. I've never tried it that way, though.

When reading up on it Andy its fungi in the soil common in fruit trees . Sorry to hear your goldenberry has gone the same after all the care you ve given it.

I may need to add compost rich in Mycorrhiza.
