Do they go semi-deciduous at Kew like here in San Diego?

My 3 plants bloom off-and-on throughout winter even though they loose some of their leaves.

They lose all their leaves here, probably due to low light levels during our winter.

That makes sense. My plants are in my backyard which face south and receive a lot of reflected winter sun.
