A Young Kentia Palm (Howea fosteriana) and Bougainvillea

A Young Kentia Palm (Howea fosteriana) and Bougainvillea (Howea fosteriana - Kentia Palm and Bougainvillea)

The Bougainvillea loves the heat, however, the Kentia palm doesn't like the extreme heat so much...as their fronds can be scorched by this very hot weather especially in full sun. Photo taken in North Park, San Diego, CA. on May 3, 2011.

Camillia:

Thanks! Yes, Bougainvillea blooms all year here. It's also probably one of the most planted vines/shrubs in San Diego.

This is one of my favourite plants. I have tried to grow them here, but to no avail as it's too cold. You so lucky to be living in such a great climate....

Louis:

Kentia palms are one of my favorite palms. I have dozens growing in the front yard...some are in pots and the larger ones are in the ground. My largest one in the ground is about 15ft/4.6m tall.

Kentia palms tolerate cool temps, but not cold...and temps below freezing kill them pretty quickly.

Here's some really nice old, tall Kentia palms I've posted in the past:
