The alliums are quite a feature this year - they go well with all the azalea colours and, because they stand so tall, provide a focal point amongst the foliage. They also bridge the gap between the colour from the azales and the perennials which will flower later.

Your garden is so wonderful, it gives me something to strive for, I'll never obtain it...lol, but it inspires me just the same.!

This was a vegetable patch when we moved here 26 years ago and we grassed it over for our four children to play on. In 1995 we got tired of mowing with an electric mower and cable around a greenhouse, shed, swing and 6 saplings we'd put in "We thought you were putting in trees for a tree house" said our kids! We hired a rotovator and started landscaping around the trees - the blue conifer is one of them. We built the stream out of concrete in 2001 and it is 48 foot long.

We prune all our conifers. Most don't like to be touched by other plants. In the bottom garden we have put mostly yew conifers since they can tolerate being crowded in.
