Caught this on my mobile phone, which I had at the ready because I knew it lived in this paddock. I had to zoom hence a bit fuzzy! May take the big camera out tomorrow and see if I can take a few shots!

Thanks Yorkie, Sticki and Paul....they are amazing and living in an area surrounded by fields they are everywhere! I take the dogs into this 20 acre paddock for a walk and I know there are 2 or 3 hares living there. I might give them a break (the hares) tomorrow and then go down with the shutter set at x 6 shots per second....watch this space!

How do the dogs react ? If I don't keep a close eye on mine ,she would be off ! Mind you, I think she has a touch of greyhound/whippet in her, so that could explain the urge !

Well, The dogs do help! They are English Pointers and have no chance to catch a hare!! But I hear them chase and cry and have the camera at the ready!! A whippet greyhound would be off like a long dog and not come back!!!

That's right,...when we first got Bella that is exactly what happened ! Though she did come back....eventually ! This is the worst time of year, as there's quite a lot of rape growing here this year, and lots of hares (and deer),so she would be lost for hours!

I know the feeling Judy as my mum and dad had 3 but now 2 whippets! Long waits for one of them to come back! Glad my girls are sight dogs, out of sight, they come back...just!

That must be a relief for you knowing they will come back. Bella very rarely sees anything...nearly always it's the scent she picks up, long before she notices the 'very' visible animal ! Must have some Bloodhound in her as well, lol !

Well Pru went off for 24 hrs 4 years ago, nightmare. I do keep my eye on Sluggy though! Yesterday I fed them and came upstairs while they ate....I didn't know I had left the back door open....and all 3 are in season! Fingers crossed we have NO MORE PUPPIES!

OH No ! At least the are all in season together, would be a nightmare if it was spread throughout the year. I think if I recall correctly it's usually the case, that if you have more than one bitch, they all come into season about the same time ?
