mottled leaves a bonus with beautiful flower. Have a look at Rbtkew Lori. 'Woodland Garden at Kew' A stunning swathe of erythronium. How I wish I could have them here.

Hello Everyone! I remember picking handfuls of these for my Mom! The floor of the forest is a carpet of these, the red and the white trilliums...a very pretty clumping grass whose name I don't know...my riddle flower...Dutchmen's Britches..and May Flowers...they will all run riot until the trees come into leaf. The forested hills are pretty this time of year as well, as all the deciduous trees are budding and the buds are specific colours depending upon specie. The Maples are a bright red; the Birches are yellow with catkins; the Beeches are bronzy orange, and the Aspen are silver green..so the hillsides are less colourful than in autumn, but the subtle colours of the spring buds are quite beautiful to behold. Spring is moving in tortoise mode this year.
Resi: the Red Tailed Hawk hasn't been seen again...but we have a pair of Ravens who are terrorizing the Crows.

Thanks Karen...it is GREAT! I posted a pic of Claytonia last season which was growing in a wood not far from the development where I lived in Cornwall...BUT this year the erythronium and Claytonia are in my own garden!!!

Yes, I've never seen Claytonia. Heard the name, but had no idea what it looked like. Thanks.
