This is my 15 year old Heliconia that has never bloomed.
I was very surprised when I saw this bud two days ago.

This one isn't a dwarf. I bought it at a plant show in a small small pot many years ago. It was planted in the backyard of my house in 2000 when I first moved in. The plant has spread and grows tall but up until now has never bloomed. Unfortunately I don't remember what the variety name is.

It may be Heliconia schiedeana or lathispatha. I guess we'll know soon.
