Female lurcher companion for lurcher No. 1. Speciality - hunting and killing mice/voles in the garden. Very vocal too.

Terratoonie, I didn't know that. I have one light and one dark and if truth be told, I love the dark little one slightly more but shhhh, don't tell Chynna. But I've had mine since puppyhood.
Magnoliamad, she looks beautiful and her coat is super shiny.

Sgbabe...
Yes, her coat is beautifully glossy, isn't it ! :o)
... some of the Rescue Societies have special sections and "promotions" to highlight the black-coated dogs in their care ... often some of the black-coated dogs have been waiting for a number of years to be re-homed ...

I was told by the rescue organiser that black dogs are hard to place, too. Our black one (we think) was beaten with something metal - came from a traveller's site they think, as 6 yrs. on she will still flinch and run for cover if I drop a saucepan lid with a clatter or something. A garden hoe is the object of suspicion too.

Sadly, scary experiences like that from earlier life, become imprinted on a dog's mind... and despite years of love, they can't forget the fear ....
She looks a wonderful dog :o)

That is too sad, but luckily, this lucky Lurcher has a lovely home now with Magnoliamad.

Lovely ... she looks very contented on her cushion...
at Dog Rescues, black-coated dogs are often the last to be placed in permanent homes ...
... the black-coated dogs get overlooked by prospective owners, who instead choose the dogs with lighter colour coats...
