Taken indoors yesterday at Oxfords botanic gardens.
A small shrub of about four feet, with these striking blooms of 40mm or so.

Most Pavonia species like semi-shade. This one is absolutely gorgeous! I've never heard of this species before. However, I've used to have Pavonia multiflora. This one grows well outside in coastal CA. This plant is in the Malvaceae family...it's related to Hibiscus. Notice how the flower resembles hibiscus?

Delonix - apparently it used to be classified as an Hibiscus (see above), under Hibiscus platanifolius I believe. It's rather a beaut, and I'm trying to work out if I could keep one......

Thanks for the info! It appears to be a hardy plant. It probably grows well here in CA...as I've read it tolerates dry soil.
