I'm finally back from The San Francisco Bay Area (May 19, 2011). This pic was taken on an unusually rainy night in San Francisco on May 16, 2011.

Meanie:
Large Agapanthus was blooming all over The City. They are all blooming here in San Diego, too. However, they seem to look much better in The San Francisco Bay Area.
I thought Agapanthus was super hardy. :>)

Lovely plant in a gorgeous city. The flowers look to be a delicate blue.
As an aside, I went to university in San Francisco and still have very fond memories. Graduated 20 years ago (eek, showing my age!). I don't get to visit often enough but I do love the US.

Yes, I have many fond memories of San Francisco and the Bay Area, also. I lived there for the majority of my life. I live in San Diego now, however, I have much family and many friends there.

That certainly is large!
We can have problems keeping single bulbs over the winter around here.
