Jubaea chilensis - Chilean Wine Palm

This is a very nice specimen of a Chilean Wine Palm. It grows very slowly to 80ft/25m in about 120 - 150 years or so. Some of the oldest, tallest known specimens are located in the San Francisco Bay Area and were planted circa 1877. Photo taken at Point Loma, San Diego, CA. on May 23, 2011. This palm has the largest trunk circumference of any known palm in the world.
