Another wildflower, Maureen! these have naturalized on the edge of the forest...they make a lovely mat with their five lobed leaves and the little spikes are numerous...their common name is "foam flower". There are lots of hybridized ones I think. These are growing under a stand of hazel and have the little yellow violas interspersed.

They very well may have scent, Grammazoo. very low growing and my knees aren't what they used to be...guess before they finish blooming I really should get down there and take a whif!? lol.
