yes its very good for that! have you planted all that bit your OH dug for you? ive been digging in devon today ~ mum needed some things taking out. the ground was really dry even tho it had rained hard on sunday night.

Oh i wish i had sticki, all that fence covered by lovely plants, hope I can get a few things from Gardeners World Live, I would love to enclose the garden as much as possible, this fence behind the cotinus was quite covered until this year but the cotinus, and a cornus needed drastic pruning so am missing these not being as large. Hope you had a nice time in Devon.

quite busy in devon ~ bit of a flying visit ~ mum needed a few things doing! but we got them done and there was blue sky this afternoon ~ always lovely. mum cant walk so far these days [she is over 80] so we went out in the car and i just went to the beach and sat for a few minutes before i drove back.
have you seen the pictures of annellas garden ~ i think there were fences there once and she has covered those!!

Hi sticki, yes i have seen annellas 'before and after' blog, brilliant!

i was thinking about your cotinus ~ OH wanted a red leafed plant but i said no to the cotinus cos i thought it would be too big, then i saw yours and realised i can just keep cutting it back and it will still look good.
thanks for this ~ see you learn something everyday on here ~ well i do anyway!!
[is that a good enough excuse for me to spend hours a day on here??]

I like Cotinus 'Grace' aswell, take a look at that one, but might not be as dark as this one, but i think it is darker because of cutting it back, but it was about 8ft or so, been in about 8 years, so was a bit worried it wouldnt grow back, but hopefully its doing ok.
