This is the first year my 7 year old wisteria has flowered.

Lucky 7. That looks beautiful Lilcrawford, dripping with scented flowers. I'm just on my way into the garden to give mine its summer prune - it's amazing how much growth it puts on isn't it? :-)

Thank you Muddy. I'm surprised they are not classified as a weed due to their growth and resilience :)

Thanks Scotkat. Your comment is perfectly timed as it is due for a nice trim and I'm not looking forward to it :)

Hi Lil, these are the tips I follow at Wisteria pruning time, don't know if it's the same in Ontario?

Make sure your man steadies your ladder for you! ;-))

Thanks MW! I just checked this site out. The only difference here is that we (I) don't do any trimming in January or February. Too cold and snowy here! Also if many new wispy branches form following the August trimming, I usually cut these back again in late September.
My man likes to lay in the hammock and supervise. So helpful :)

So will I need to wait 7yrs for mine to flower just like my tree peony waited 5yrs then the gale force winds blew flowers off.
