prayer plant

It's lovely, and a little wierd, I've never seen one before.

It's fascinating. Name comes from its manner of opening its leaves up for sun and then closing them like hands in prayer when the sun recedes. It shakes and wiggles in its terrarium all the time. a very action packed plant...lol.

It sounds fascinating, where does it originate from?

Rooted from Africa, it pretty common in autralia asia south africa and carribean nowadays. I found the scientific name and posted that as well. Seemson researching, that the terrarium was a good idea, no wonder I get comments about the bloom so often!..lol.

I may have to do that idea as well with my prayer plants. I have both this one above and the one people refer to as rabbit tracks. i planted both together for a fun foliage combo!

This one is now looking like it might need to get cutout and restarted, a little big for the terrarium. I might throw in a new variety as well. Thats a great idea. The enclosed environment makes them such a pleasure as they move about.
