Got home this afternoon to find the first flowers of the year opening up on my Gloriosa superba.

i hadn't seen your blog no, i have now !! i knew it was tender but not that tender i kept it in my wooden shed under wraps, but not sheltered enough it seems..

yes, i had all my lily bulbs that i had scaled in the shed and they ate the lot... there was some rarer ones too...

Oh, no, Meanie! I'm growing Gloriosa first time. And was very upset when I got the information that this plant should be purchased with a shoot, but not a bulb as I've done. Watering, being outside and high temperatures made their best! In two month! My patience has won! :) It's 20 inches now. I know it's very small yet, but hope for any flowering...:)

Always buy them as tubers (bulb) Uma - they're easy to get to shoot, only requiring heat, and so much cheaper!
