I'm glad you asked that question, Cinders, as I'd like to know the answer too! I planted three, in pots, for the first time this year and it seems they like to be kept damp? Come on Sandra, answers please . . . .

I love yours to Sandra , we use to let them spread in our old garden but it's to dry here thats why we keep them in pots ...

A neighbour gave me a tiny piece, when we moved here over nine years ago,so yours will get bigger Karen..and in answer to you,Cinders,I wouldn't say they spread that fast, just nice and steady.I have split them a few times, for other parts of a border. ...and to you,Shirley..I have them in both a South/West and East facing border..so quite sunny..and I don't especially water them more than anything else..but the roots are shaded by the foliage, and some by other plants..I haven't noticed any problems with them..I didn't even know they preferred a damp position, till I kept seeing pics on here, and comments..mine are certainly not damp..and still thrive .:o)

That's interesting, Sandra, I'll move them out of their pots in the Autumn & plant them in the garden. Just need to decide where! : o )

I'm sure they will do ok,Shirley..and I know the feeling..I could do with some spare places for all the plants I would still like to have..I'm sure we will manage somehow !Lol.
