Thanks Scotsgran. This is the border that OH chopped down to the ground at the beginning of the year. It's grown so well, the one thing you can't see the weeds that keep invading from my neighbors garden.

How deep are the roots of the invaders Sue. Would it be possible to put in a plastic barrier to stop them coming through. We tried everyhing to stop our neighbours weeds from coming in and in the end we built a wall.

We put a concrete kick boards in a few years ago. But my neighbour has piled soil right up to the wooden fence and consequently the bottom of the fence in places is rotting and bind weed is coming through also brambles have just started to appear so I hit them with bramble killer. With all the rain last week, they really have a grip. At the end of the summer The fence may get replaces and I will put a membrane down then.
