Never had one of these in the garden before, think he was eating the ants between the cracks in the paving, not a good picture as didn't want to scare him.

Me neither Paul, wondered what on earth it was at first, quite a large bird, have been told they're in the nearby cemetery but never seen them.
Thanks DD I'll be keeping my open for him again :-)

Well caught Kathy as they are very shy. Yes, they love ants. We have them here and a couple of years ago the parents brought the 2 babies down onto our drive to eat the ants. Noisy devils, arent they but lovely to have around.

Fantastic Simbad, lucky you! Can't quite see the 'moustache' colour on my screen, but it's red on the male and black on the female. I hope they become regular visitors to your garden. :-)
