Anemone de Caen 2011

Anemone de Caen 2011 (Anemone de Caen)

Planted in my new raised beds in March these are flowering already but something is chopping them off at the bottom of the stem and eating the flowers and central core. Whatever it is leaves no trace of slime or bite marks so I am wondering if it is a squirrel. Amost as soon as they flower they get eaten. I have had difficulty getting these to live in my garden so its a case of fingers crossed this year.

Lovely colour, I hope you catch the culprit!

Thanks Sticki. BBQ squirrel maybe. I'd just as soon they did not come calling at all.

Squirrel kebab would work quite well. I would be very cross with them if they ate my plants as it is they devour all the bird food but I can't help smiling at their antics.

We are too much of a soft touch. I have just been out hanging out washing and there is wide spread damage to the anemones. I must look for some moth balls it has worked in getting rid of small furry creatures in the past and when it is less sunny I will need to drench the raised beds with Slug killer.

I'm quite happy to get rid of as many slugs as I possibly can!

Thank you Yorkshire. Me too Sticki and I find the Murphys liquid slugit works a treat. i found the slug pellets encouraged rather than repelled slugs.

Ah, that's useful - thank you. I noticed a nasty collection of them - and often thought that's what was happening.
