This is in one of my customer's gardens and has flowered beautifully for each of at least the past 5 years.

that is so strange, slugs eat just about anything here but they leave the hollyhocks strictly alone.
different soils , different chemistry , different taste perhaps??

I have one this colour it's been flowering for weeks ,the slugs haven't touched mine !
