yes, I agree, our Lidl in the village is closing 8th August for 5 weeks, they are spending a million pounds refurbishing,

Does that mean it's going to have more room for more surprise impulse purchases? lol!

definately, extending it backwards, to the side and on the front, people in the village will really miss it for 5 weeks, I know I will,

apparently they are having a bakers in every Lidl shop, but I don't know if thats for the U.K

...that would be good because Lidl's bread is rubbish in France...but here, although the other supermarkets have bakeries in store...they're not allowed to undercut the little local boulangeries...which is a good thing, really...they're an institution :)

I agree with that, so many small buisness's going because of supermarkets, we never buy supermarket meat, only from our small butcher.

And it always tastes so much better... :)))

Our local town is, according to my neighbour, the smallest 'ville' in France - it has two streets. In those two streets there are 4 bakers, 3 butchers and 3 charcuteries! Everyone has their favourite baker for bread, baker for cakes, butcher for beef etc...I love it :)))
