This is the first bud (almost open) on this hardy fuschia. I thought I'd lost it after the severe winter but it's came through.

I love this. I cheated this year and bought it in full flower from the garden centre in April. Its been going ever since. I know it will start flowering later next year but its good to know it got through last winter.

Is it in a pot or in the garden Weatherwise? Mine's in the garden and I think they generally do better if you can get them in the garden rather than leave in the pot, seem to be more resistant to the frost. It is absolutely full of flowers at the moment - not bad for 15 years old. I've actually got a baby one in the front garden as well (took a cutting myself).

I agree. I'm going to get mine in the garden because I even lost a pretty hardy one (riccartonii) that was in a pot last winter.
