Seven roses.... how big was that Juniper?

HUGE!! The space is about 10' x 7'. I've put in 3 Rudbeckias, 3 Heleniums, 2 Geraniums, one of the roses, and placed all the rest - 10 Lavender 'Hidcote' and 6 Achillea 'Terracotta' plus the other roses. There will still be spaces left!

What a strange name for a rose! Lovely rose though!

Lovely.

Who knows how they get their names? I don't mind as long as the colour's right. ;-)

Thanks, Carol.

PensionerĀ“s Voice - sounds interesting but I did not find this rose in my book. Were does it come from?
With this name it is a proper rose for meetings of Labour Party. Lol.

No idea, Katarina - but maybe they'll use it as their emblem! lol. I bought the rose from a rose grower called 'Fryers'.

Lol.

I should have looked before I asked the question on your first photo, B. That is a huge space to fill. Have you decided to have a rose covered cottage yet?

2 Aug, 2011

We already have roses round the door and over the front of the cottage, Lori! Clematis montana in the spring, then Rosa 'Albertine' and an anonymous red rose. :-))

LOL...you have an anonymous rose?!! You have New Dawn as well, I believe? How is it doing for you? I lost mine in the move... (there were plants that I expected to lose...but not that one!) Couldn't get out to dig beds in the early spring...we had snow and sleet right up to May and I was late getting it in the ground. my fault I fear. I remember the pic of the Clematis montana ...unforgettable.

I have several anonymous roses. The red one on the house has very large blooms - and oddly, the birds like pecking the stems, so I frequently find a beautiful perfect rose or a bud lying on the path!

Yes, 'New Dawn' is on the trellis by the gate. It does suffer from black spot, but I forgive it.

I also have a huge cream repeat flowering climber, and a shrub with pale pink clusters of flowers that has two flushes of blooms, plus two enormous standard rose 'trees' that are also anonymous.

I found out this year that my perfect-shaped pink climber is 'Pink Perpetue', and the very deep red fragrant climber is 'Guinee'. :-))
