Our Rheus -

From the inside, acts like a huge Canopy over the garden, and gives us our shady area to sit and enjoy...
This tree forms the centrepiece of our new side/front garden...

Thanks everyone...
I wish it was Pixi, they are the red flower, which eventually drop off, and play havoc, they are full of seeds....
Thanks Karen..:)))

Thanks all...This tree was the only thing we inherited from the previous owner...and apart from taking the dead bits off, and removing one low branch, we've left it well alone...
Sadly our other one we were growing as a standard, split with freak winds sometime back...OH cut it back to a decent height, and now its sending lovely young branches up...will also bring some more shade from the other end....
It's so nice sitting looking up at the sky through it...:)))

Lovely tree Crissue.

I did the same as you and kept 2 ash trees when we moved here but got rid of everything else. It was the best thing I did because I didn't realise how hot it could get in the garden and the trees provide much needed shade.

Glad to hear your other one is now recovering.

Hi Frybo...nice to hear from you...I wish there had been something growing in the back garden, it is a real Hot place to be...When I watched A Titchmarsh a couple of fridays ago, there was a garden where the couple had planted three trees of the same species across the middle of one side of the garden, one reason was to create the much needed shade, the other was to make a natural separation from one section to the other...
We've got a Flowering cherry in the middle of ours, if I had known how hot it would get in our garden I would have bought three......
They do say...do nothing in the garden for the first full year that you move in...then you get to see everything.....for the seasons...:)))

Unfortunately, if I had left my garden for a full year after moving here, we would have needed a machete to get out of the door!

I do know what you mean though and I definitely would have done that if it had been an option.

There's a lot to be said for that...pros and cons!
...I should have realised exactly where the sun would be hottest, by the siting of the old Indian Bean Tree...
...alas, I didn't and the best shade in the garden's going to waste! lol!
BTW Sue, have you thought of planting one of these...grow fast in summer, huge leaves...
...will post pictures of another one of Mr. Huret's pressies! :))

A delightful canopy, I would think you need it too.

We could have done with something big like this for the back garden DD, but this was the only Tree in the garden when we came...in fact that was all there was except soil...:))))

You've done amazingly well then! :))

We did bring a lot of Plants and shrubs with us from the previous garden...just wish now we had moved our fruit trees, which were still quite young, they would have made a difference....It was like a drop in the ocean, from that big garden to this little one...but thankyou Pixi, we haven't done too bad...keep fiddling tho don't we...!! lol

That's what gardens are there for, isn't it??? lol!

29 Jul, 2011

I was just thinking..if I ever did win the lottery lol..I dont think I;d want to leave my garden! lol silly eh?

29 Jul, 2011

Not silly at all Pixi...we were thinking of moving not so long ago, but after all we've done with the garden + other things, just couldn't do it...Gardens take time to settle, as well as people...lol...
