Campanula punctata 'Rubriflora'

Campanula punctata 'Rubriflora' (Campanula punctata 'Rubriflora')

This was pink/red last year. Can anyone tell me why it changed colour?

I'm pretty sure that mine was pink/red when I planted it, earlier this year...just been out to check, and now it's pink/violet! I haven't moved mine...but we've had periods of intense dry followed by intense wet...

Strange....you could be right Karen...will see what it does next year. I took a couple of cutting of this and have them in a pot - they are growing away but I don't think they will flower this year.

It'll be interesting to see what happens, Scottish... :)

I can tell you exactly what will happen......the blooming thing will take over your whole garden....it will start appearing in the base of all the other plants...sending out runners everywhere. You will spend the next four years trying, unsuccesfully to get rid of it!! ...can you tell I am exasperated by this lovely plant? ;)

Yes I can Karen. I've had this since last year and it hasn't grown in size. Maybe I have it in the right/wrong place. I will heed your warning and keep my eye on it :)

Me too!!

Strange how plants react in different gardens. I had this one too, but it obviously didn't like it here and promptly left, without saying why!!!! : o )))

LOL!! Constance! :)))

You know, I think it was because I had spread bark chippings on my soil about five years ago. This plant seems to just adore the chips and goes romping in them....I suppose it must be the sharp drainage....I shall be out there again today trying to get some more of it out!

Oh no! Don't say that, KS...I've got it in bark chippings...in fact my whole garden is covered in bark chippings!!!!

lol....sorry!

Actually, it would be easy to solve really wouldn't it.....if you do it now....just put a barrier around it. The rootlets go very close to the surface, so that should stop it going mental....just use a bit of plastic edging or similar and make a circle right around the plant. Then you can relax and enjoy!

I think I might have until next year, KS...it's still very small...
But top of the list of things to do!!!

I don't have bark chippings, so we can compare. It doesn't get very much sun either...but I do have the octopussy one - that is in full sun. I might use your tip on that KS if I see it getting out of hand.

Mine is in full sun...but I can't promise it'll stay where it is next year! lol!

Your garden is like mine then Karen, nothing is safe!!!!

Lol! Scottish...OH says he watches them sigh with relief when I walk by! lol!

20 Aug, 2011

Yes, me too!

Lol! KS...I think it's a common complaint! You get things looking good...and then you see something you have to have......et voila! Rearrangement required!! lol!! :))

Scottish, I would never have guessed that your garden was as bereft as mine in March! You, too, have done a marvellous job...Good job, well done! :))))

It was Karen, not 1 single plant, well nothing worth talking about, in the back garden. Everything had been 'stuck' in the side or front garden.
I had my brother, his wife and 3 young kids staying with me for 3 years when they came home from Asia so I didn't particularly want to do very much to it. There are plenty of plants now but I haven't quite got the knack of how to pull it all together. But I will get there :)
Never mind me doing a good job, you have done a marvellous job!

Well, maybe we could both give ourselves a wee pat on the back, Scottish ;)))
