Never grown them but always liked them. One of our neighbours grew really good ones. She put all her old tea bags and egg shells at the base. They also like water. There is a story about the goddess Hydra but I don't know it.

Lucky Dad. :)
No flowers on mine either. I have around 4 hydrangeas, all young ones, none have ever flowered, I think the harsh winters keep knocking them around so much and take them back to nothing. Ive been told that when they do flower, wait until late spring to trim off the dead flowers then prune back to the next new leaf buds. The GC man said that if you prune too hard, you cut off next years flower buds.

Yes I got told that too Dawn...But Im sure I did that last year..I was jsut gonna cut it right back this year..Idk really. :)

I had a read up on Hydrangea, we moved ours last Season out of the sun because they kept crisping, and the flowers suffered...I didn't expect any blooms at all, but have three on one, and the Lacecap, two, but not overly special...Some Hydrangeas flower on the year before growth and some on the new growth...For mine, apart from the move, I don't do anything until around April/begining May, then I just take off the old dead flowers...and any straggling new shoots, basically just to keep it in shape.....might not work for all...

Pix do you remember the link I gave you for the Hydrangea that wouldn't flower...and look at it now...

Thinking back Dawnsaunt, I don't remember any blooms on mine when they were younger either...
