I like doubles with the singles as I think they are too much on their own?

I planted up the back baskets with all singles Bloomer. But these 2 front baskets were an accident! as I thought I would have all doubles in them. But the garden centre had a whole batch delivered wrongly labelled as doubles when they were singles. They gave offered me a refund but they did me a favour really as the singles flower so much more.

Gorgeous and in August. My front basket, which unfortunately hangs in a very sunny spot - when we have any sun - is on it's last legs. well done.

Thanks B I do love my baskets. Mine are about to come down and be planted up for the winter.

What do you plant for Winter Denise...!!
31 Aug, 2011
Hi Crissue, I pack a lot in so I use the bigger 16" baskets and new compost and plant Pansies, Primulas, trailing Ivy, Snowdrops, Crocus, Chinodoxia and miniature Iris, Narcissus, Tulips. The aim is to have flowers every month. The Pansies Oct to end of Dec when they stop for about 8 weeks, then it is the Snowdrops, Primulas and other bulbs, March/April back come the pansies and lastly the tulips. I find after the end of November I dont have to water till the spring and I dont feed at all until March. Although I have already got my Pansies and bulbs I dont plant up until the Primulas are available to buy as I find they are quite a bit later than the Pansies.
