Royal Poinciana growing in Indian Wells which is located in the Palm Springs area (low sutropical desert of California). I was talked into going to Palm Springs in the summer ( which I said I would never do again in summer). It was 114ºF/45.5ºC when we arrived. Photo taken August 19, 2011.

LOL! :>)
This whole week in Palms Springs the temp is forecasted to be 118ºF/47.8C. (Oh, do I hate this type of heat) I'm so glad I'm back home!
The last time I went to Palm Springs in summer was back in July of 2003. The temps were from 114ºF/45.6ºC to 119ºF/48.3ºC. (it was unbearable) the whole time I was there. I swore I'd never go back in summer again!

Thanks! Yes, I hope it cools down for you soon! There's no hope for Palms Spring cooling down until November.
