A combination experiment - I had hoped that there would be a bigger show of poppies to create the effect I was trying to get.

This is their 2nd show Karen. I know that once they are cut back you can't guarantee flowers but I took a chance. There is another 2 buds still to open.
If nothing else it kinda hides the foliage on the echinacea that has been chewed by slug. Not too badly but enough!

Oh dear...have you got lots of foliage, just few flowers, Scottish? Maybe you could save some seeds?

It will look better next year, the echinacea didnt get off to a good start and the poppies were only planted in March.

Am positive it will, Scottish. Have always had poppies (except here...note to self!) and they always take a year or two..., but, you can't keep a good poppy down! :)
