This unknown red plumeria was growing in Palm Desert, CA. The red plumerias are able to withstand the hottest temperatures of any plumeria varieties without getting burned. Photo taken Aug. 20, 2011.

I wouldn't count on it. This tree obviously withstood the cold temps in January of 2007, though. It was most likely big back then. This tree was at least 25' tall. It's very difficult to tell in this photo. It was in an awkward position to take a photo.

That deep green color also indicates a thriving plant. I wonder if that tolerance to heat might also mean tolerance to cold in winter?
