I liked Percy Thrower. I thought he was great.

End of an era.
Remember going to his Nursery/garden centre when I was young, near Telford/Shropshire if I remember right.

Happy days.

I think Marksbegonias might be able to fill us in here, he's in Shropshire...

he always reminded me of Ronnie Corbett?.......xcuse me ..I have my moments, well, I am nearly 40!

"Percy Throwers" garden centre is just along the road from the new Shrewsbury Town Football club. The football clubs a pest, since they moved out of their old grounds to their new stadium, the road to Percy's garden centre is closed off because of the number of people going to football, whenever matches are on. The football club should remember who was there 1st & think of gardeners not just football fans!!!!! The garden centre is owned now, i believe, by Percy's daughter and a French firm called "Garden Leisure" Great place, i often go there (when there's no football on).

I am old enough to remember Percy Thrower telling Eric Morcombe "I am just going out for a dibble". EM "Have one for me".

Classic stuff, and unbeatable.
My kids watch them now, and the Two Ronnies !

on reflection..........isn't strange how we have these black and white images implanted into our memories....!!

I remember my son saying to me when he was small ... " was every thing black and white in the old days mum " he really thought they were .

...and did everybody really walk that fast ?
