Spathodea campanulata - African Tulip Tree

This is lovely!!!

They're in full bloom all over now. My tree is still blooming and developing new buds and it's been blooming since the ending of May.

What I love about this tree is that they're on individual flowering schedules. I've seen African Tulip trees in full bloom every month of the year here.

It must be wonderful to be able to see these flowering all year.

Yes, it is. There's several by downtown San Diego that seem to bloom very well in winter most years.

I bet in winter they stand out more.

Yes, in winter the sky tends to be bluer.

I thought it would be so the flowers would stand out more against the blue sky.?

Yes, very true. It's opposite with Jacaranda trees. The flowers stand out better when it's cloudy. The blue flowers against a cloudy sky is beautiful! :>))
