Two years ago, I had planted an Aquilegia [a. 'Yellow Queen'] in an old barrel - it flowered and then got blown over in a gale so I thought that was that.
Imagine my surprise when I noticed these a few days ago in a pot that had stood below the barrel.

Sheila - no idea, it's a mystery. Sure, aquilegias normally flower May/June - I adore them but they're all well gone by now so I'm as mystified as you. This pot has a late spring Phlox which is finished by about May so maybe that allowed the Aquilegia to flourish? The real trick will be to somehow get the Aquilegia to flourish in a separate pot!

Take the seeds off when they're ready and grow them on - they're really easy seeds to grow, I do it all the time!

I'll try that - thanks.
