Rudbeckia, Prairie Sun

The first lump to bloom out in the new bed on the lawn with the lilac. If I buy them sprouting up in to first flower at the GC, they go all season. If I buy them before they start to bloom, the cool stops them and I get nothing until fall. Rule of thumb for cool temperature gardens.

Thank you. This one was the only one with such pronounced bi-color lines. But all are bright and long lived like any good rudbeckia. :-)

Thanks all. Really an unusual color rudbeckia, that is what drew me in. I couldn't figure out what was lighter and more monotone about it, and its that button, Homebird. That is just the thing.

Thanks. I'll try getting some more shots up. This is just the first of six plants starting to bloom I put them all in a big group by the lilac

Aren't these lovely! I bought them this year too, mine have nearly finished but they brightened up the whole garden for a while.

Thanks. I do love rudbeckia, but I have to be careful selecting them for here, or they don't bloom. What big long-lasting stunners.

Will you take this in for the winter?

These are almost in my Zone, so I leave them each year to see if they will come back the following year. I had echinacea come back last year, so maybe one day. Worth getting new each year if they don't I think. And they are pretty easy from seed.
