Sarah65- LOL. Only when I stand in the bushes naked...JK I have not heard of this type of bird around here. I'll have to look it up. It looked similar to the humming birds nest, but it looked much too large. That's a fully grown grapefruit next to it.

Haha, very funny, better make sure there aren't any thorns on those bushes! I checked my book and there are those aforementioned birds in your area of CA. The are usually in flocks of dozens, they are very small and have totally adapted to suburban/urban life because... you guessed it they love bushes not forests. The nests are usually made of lichen, mosses and spiderwebs.

Sarah- I saw some pics of Bushtits (what a name :) nests online and they do look very similar to the one I have posted here. Good call on your part :) I haven't seen the cute little birds though.

What type of bird made it? Bushtits make a similar one but fromt the photo it looks too large and are there bushtits in Gilroy?
