This is a newly-bred Salvia - I believe it's a cross.

Isn't it just! It's a new one, and should be hardy, but I shall protect the roots with a thick mulch.

No chance, Tetra - sorry. I don't think there's any cuttings material on it as it's so young.
It is a lovely plant, and I wish I'd bought a second one now. I expect they'll be generally available next year though.

Doh! Not if this lot get in first...perhaps we should bulk purchase?

I haven't come across this one in any of the online NZ nurseries or the GC I have visited. It's quite stunning.
20 Sep, 2011
Well, I suppose if it's newly bred, you might find it next year. :-)

I have bought one from Hayloft Spritz....It arrived this morning...:>)

Well done - I hope it's a good sized plant?

I did so admire this plant, when you posted this image last year and was really pleased when I managed to get one of these at the end of last year at a specialist plant fayre. I took some cuttings and overwintered the main plant in the greenhouse. On close inspection it does appear to be alive as I was quite dubious about it being hardy, although not showing any signs of growth yet. How is your plant doing Spritz. Have you managed to get it through the winter OK?

No...I'm so sad about it, but I seem to have lost an awful lot this year - the latest loss is my lavenders, which didn't appreciate being flooded.
I might get another Salvia 'Amistad'...isn't that good that I typed in the Nursery! :-D)
