This very common woody vine is widely planted along fences. Photo taken on Sept. 20, 2011 in San Diego, CA.

Thanks! There's another one which is very widely grown here, it's called: Pandorea jasminoides - Bower Vine...this vine looks very similar, it's just not as woody.

That's pretty. We have a similar-looking vine here in New Zealand, but it is a vibrant orange colour .... as I'm not greatly into the very hot garden colours, I would prefer this one!
