This is the NZ Native tree known locally as the Kaka Beak ... as the pretty flower is the same shape as the beak of the a NZ native parrot the Kaka. This little tree comes in three colours. Red ... white ... yellow. I have just planted the white version in my new side fenceline garden. It already has some little kaka beaks on it.

Are you living in the UK or on my side of the world? I saw this one in a GC we visited today .... about twice as tall as the white one I put into the garden last week ... twice the price too. I was very tempted to get it, as it does look very pretty in the red, & it had quite a few flowers on it. Might sneak back in a couple of days lol. But have to think where I would site it. Still, as I said to my husband, it might just as well sit in our backyard waiting for a place, as in the GC! Is yours flowering now?

Stuck in the UK.
I bought mine a few weeks ago in the sale at a local GC - a couple of metres tall for £3!
Should flower in the spring, but will need winter protection.

Wow! 3.00! That would be around NZ$8. I paid around $15 for mine, & the red one I saw today was $18, but twice as tall .... nowhere near 2 mtrs though. That was a bargain. We don't need to give winter protection over here, but yours should flower nicely in the spring. Will look forward to seeing a pic.
