Middle rose bed very nearly at the end of flowering.Nearest one ,where the "Tequila" is growing is still flourishing. The clematis planted by the obelisk hasn,t done well for years, too much direct sun,I feel. Will have to be replaced by something.

A campsis planted near the clematis would do well on the obelisk in full sun. The clematis would be shaded by the leaves and have something to scramble through...

Agree with Louise. I was going to suggest a good feed and make sure it never dries out...those beds look quite dry. More likely to be to hot and dry at the roots than too much sun I would think. Worth trying to save....perhaps give it one more chance M?....she says having just hoiked five out of her own garden!...but I still have 72!

That's a good looking part of the garden, Meadowland.
Would the clematis on the obelisk be better if there was a leafy perennial underneath to shade its roots, seems a shame to hoik the whole lot out.
I've done this very thing in my own gardens.
