Pulsatilla vulgaris 'rubra'

Pulsatilla vulgaris 'rubra' (Pulsatilla vulgaris (Pasque flower))

I have been wanting to add pulsatilla to the garden for a few years now. We had this red one come in so so I swept it up and it has done well. Should be a nice bunch next year. I collected seed from our wild one as well, big purple blooms, but wont see those for a while.

You've done a great job on this photo, even the tiny hairs stand out!

Thank you. Those little hairs are the key to pulsatilla I think!

I will say GOY has changed my ability to photograph, enough I had to get a better camera the other day even.

Always loved them. My first encounter was as a child climbing along a steep bank over a river. I found a tiny one in delicate pink perched where the view was best. I always called it bittersweet, a wild local that the mountains were named after. It was a local pulsatilla. I'll have to research it now, thinking about it. :-)

Thank you. I'll have to really nose in next spring, I didn't notice the scent. Looking for a good reward from giving it a good home. ;-)

What else?

See who else is growing Pulsatilla vulgaris (Pasque flower).

See who else has plants in genus Pulsatilla.
