Here is a larger view of a scatter of them through the grass in the shade of a bank. Or you might find them resting amoung the limbs of wld rose and shrub birch. It really leaves an impact, if you just notice them. These were some of the most pronounced positions I've ever seen them in, but it is a national preserve, so nothing gets bothered much.

Thank you for the comments. I love this dark and stringy wild version, Aconitus delphinifolium. Mine in the garden is tall and thick compared to these very spare beauties. This was a mid summer walk and the wildflowers were gorgeous!

These blooms are coming about 6 weeks after the last frost. That is about midsummer here, we get 8 weeks more before autumn.

We began our yellow 8.20 and chancing hard frost or snow daily now. I can't believe it cooled off already there.

Interesting that you north people have such a variety of blue flowers growing wild...
We have a lot of red, oranges, yellows, pink, but blue is not common.

i dont have many red or orange flowers ~ my garden is cool and shady.

We are very blue here in Alaska Aleyna. Working in the Nursery, most customer were looking for something other than blue. I hadn't really thought about that until now. Even my own garden is getting a little too blue for me. That is interesting.
Sticki, I call autumn yellow. In Fairbanks, we have evergreen and gold for our autumn colors. We saw a blush of orangey-red on the tops of some balsam poplars this year, unusual. So we go yellow, gold, brown, white.....lol.
