In the Wild: Death Camas and Fireweed

In the Wild: Death Camas and Fireweed

Here in front of the lake in the sunshine, I found a nice clump of camas and of course the ever present fireweed. I thought it was a nice scene.

Thank you all. What a perfect day in a perfect spot.

Later, I got lost on the trail and spent an extra three hours walking out of a fix. Another story all together. :-)

hummm...
I've been a scouts girls leader for a few years in the past
We had long and good walkings through the forests in Cambará Canyon...
I'll suggest you a compass.... take the azimuth before start your walk, and then use the compass to keep you on track...
I dont know about your place, but here the forests can be so dense everywhere will seems the same to you, also the fog would come up from the canyon and in a few minutes all you see is a white dense fog and nothing else... the compass is very helpful in these situations.

Thank you Aleyna. Lovely pictures, what an immense ravine and falls!

I'm a boy scout myself, so I don't fear getting lost. This was all on one long trail, I just had never walked it, misjudged the distance and also walked the up hill all the whole way direction. It was three bads that ended up in lost mid-trail exhausted without water. It took the entire day. I'll get the story written up with pics. Like I was saying, once I want to relive the story one night.

Actually we have one thing in common. I am also morose in the winter, when I cannot dig.

Thank you Lincs. I was thankful to get out of there as well. I was worn out for days afterwards.

Thank you San. It really has been a great year for the garden, sadly because I left the GC and had time to work in my own garden. My administrative position is just better benefits. I did still plant up all the spring baskets, but then had to go to just one position. Double was too much work for summertime.

:-) Thank you. I hadn't been down this way midsummer for many years. I didn't know so much was blooming all at once. It really was color everywhere.
