Thank you Paul and Olive.
This was last year Olive, we spent a week near Mallaig, for one day we took the small boat across to Knoydart - a remote wilderness but beautiful, 30 miles (I think?) from the nearest road.

I am longing to go back to Skye now.

this is Knoydart ~ not far from Skye [isle of cloud?] we also went to Skye ~ arriving in the mist but it turned out blue and sunny in the end; Armadale castle gardens are beautiful ~ cafe good too!!!

lol...no, I knew it was Knoydart Sticki...it was the fact that you mentioned it was 'near Skye' that set me off! Yes, I like Armadale very much...we saw sea otters playing there last time we were there. The Island has such tremendous variety doesn't it....The North is so different to the South and the Mountains are so different to the coastal areas. I just loved it!

sorry karensue, i thought you did.
so many of those islands contain incredible variety ~ Arran is one that has something of everything and Mull is amazing too. My favourite ~ so far ~ is Harris ~ i shall have to wait till geraniumdad has been to benbecula to compare that!!

14 Feb, 2012

Never been there, but I've heard a lot obviously. Do you go every there on holiday every year?

14 Feb, 2012

well nearly always west coast scotland or an island off the west coast ~ for the previous 3 years anyway and again this year ~ Harris in June

Excellent, Scotland certainly is favourite for you. The only time I was there was to deliver gin bottles to a factory lol. I suppose Wales is the pull for me but I generally move no more than a county or two, day tripper.

gin bottles to scotland?

they do make gin on Islay cos it is quicker to mature than whiskey!!!

14 Feb, 2012

I think it was, the ones for Bombay Sapphire, but it could have been whiskey bottles. I do remember a lot of them broke somehow, it all merges now lol :)

14 Feb, 2012

Oh dear not so good!

I can't spell the name of the distillery where they make the gin, bit like bruichlaiddich??

There are 7or 8 distilleries on one island!

14 Feb, 2012

Ha ha does OH like his whiskey? Or is it your tipple?

15 Feb, 2012

No, I like it.

But I have a sweet tooth, so drambuie is good.

We didn't go there for the whisky but I was happy enough to try it.

15 Feb, 2012

And why not indeed :)))

15 Feb, 2012
